You’re allowed to have sucky days.
Despite what the “good vibes only” crew would have you believe, sucky days are normal. They’re inevitable. And they’re your gatdamn right.
You’re under no obligation to “power through” them or attempt to turn them around. Ignoring your feelings doesn’t make you a G—it keeps you from growing into your fullness.
You can just let your sucky days suck until they don’t—let them play out and honor your feelings. You don’t have to be happy all. The. Damn. Time. No one is happy all the damn time—especially not truly happy people.
There’s nothing wrong with you.
You’re not less evolved or less grateful simply because you have an extraordinarily sucky day.
Instead of trying to force yourself out of the suck and into a happier space, try to give yourself some grace. Lean into your shadow. Sit shamelessly with your darker emotions. Take a mental health day, if you have the ability to do so.
Communicate with others as little as possible. Save your breath. Preserve your energy. Stay in your sweatpants. Eat some cookie dough. Write in your journal. Do a Netlfix binge. Listen to your favorite album. Order a pizza. Get a solid night’s sleep.
Wake up tomorrow and try again with the knowledge that the light does not exist without the dark.
It’s all going to be okay.
